Targets 10+ seats in old city

Hyderabad, Nov 23: Confident of winning a majority of more than 100 seats in the Greater Hyderabad civic body elections, senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and State Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Monday asserted that the city of Hyderabad has witnessed unprecedented development in the last six years of TRS rule and expressed hope that the people of Greater Hyderabad will vote for the ‘car’.
Supporting the statement made by TRS working president KT Rama Rao, Mahmood Ali too affirmed that the TRS has no alliance with any party. He said that the party is contesting from all the 150 divisions and is confident to sweep more than 100 this time.
He said that in the last elections the TRS won five seats in the Old City area and this time it will hopefully win more than ten seats, defeating the dominant-AIMIM party.
Highlighting the developments made by his party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, Home Minister Mahmood Ali stressed that the city used to witness power shutdown for hours, however, after the TRS was elected into power, the TRS-Government provided the city with uninterrupted power supply.
He said that the TRS-Government initiated and have established hundreds of Basti Dawakhanas within the GHMC limits. He added that the city’s infrastructure, including roads, flyovers, public places, have been drastically developed.
Targeting opposition parties, Mahmood Ali alleged that few parties are trying to disrupt communal peace and security in the city and suggested that It is not right to do ‘religion’ politics by interfering with religion. He said that the Police department is working with the latest technology to provide peace and security to the citizens
He said that the law and order situation in the city has been much better under the TRS rule with crime-rate much lower than in many other cities of the country and added that the people have been living peacefully for the last six years with no sort of riots or clashes.
Talking about the welfare of the minorities, he said that the TRS government has been continually working for the welfare of all sections of society. “We have introduced schemes for the welfare and development of all sections, not just minorities,” he said and assured that the same will be continued under TRS rule.
