Angry farmers climb high-tension electric tower in Mahabubabad

Mahabubabad, Oct 19: Angry over the non-redressal of their grievances, farmers at Kasturinagaram village of Telangana’s Mahabubabad district, on Monday climbed high voltage AC transmission tower to threaten the Government of committing mass suicide.
The farmers alleged that the Government is neglecting their issues and added that it has also not fulfilled its promise to issue new land papers in exchange for old papers.
Enraged by the government’s negligence, the group of farmers climbed the high voltage AC transmission tower and said to descend only when the Collector and local MLA reaches the spot.
They also carried bottles of pesticide poisoning with them and were threatening to end lives by consuming the poison.
Upon receiving the information, the local police rushed to the spot and persuaded the farmers to descend from the tower.
The farmers also expressed their displeasure at the local MLA who changed the party.
