SIO actively takes up flood relief works

Hyderabad, Oct 17: With efforts to mitigate the situations in flood-hit areas, Students Islamic Organization (SIO)’ Hyderabad city unit has been working towards providing relief to the residents of such locations.

The student’s organization took up relief works on war-footing. They distributed around 15,000 food packets, followed-up nearly 250 helpline calls, and rescued more than 80 families.

The volunteers have been active in more than 40 various flood-hit localities including Talab Katta, Nadeem Colony in Tolichowki, Golkonda, Al Jubail Colony in Chandrayangutta, Shaheen Nagar, Royal Colony Balapur, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Bahadurpura, Falaknuma, Muradnagar, Nehru Nagar and Gopinagar of Lingampally, Chaitanyapuri, Dilsukhnagar, MS Maqta, Somajiguda, among others.

They took up relief works on war-footing and distributed more-or-less 15,000 ready to eat food packets, rice and other essentials in lanes and bylanes which were submerged in several feet of waters.

They also helped people to shift to safer places by boats in Tolichowki, Nadeem Colony and other severely affected areas. In a few places, the organization also undertook distribution of emergency kits.

The organization along-with Doctors Association for Relief and Education (DARE) also organised medical camps for heavily affected areas of Osman Nagar, Shaheen nagar areas, which has benefitted more than 200 people.
