AIMIM MP, MLA’s wades through deep water to help flood victims
The party is still engaged in rescue and relief works in the aftermath of floods that have affected thousands of people in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 16: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM Floor Leader in the Assembly and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, six MLA’s, and the forty-four (44) GHMC Corporators are not afraid to get dirty while working for the people of their constituencies.
As incessant rains begin lashing Hyderabad, triggering flood like situation and widespread destruction, the AIMIM Team was seen wading through deep water to help rescue people and providing relief to the residents of rain battered colonies of Hyderabad.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s extensive inspection began with the rains at mid-night on Oct 13. The Hyderabad MP visited the collapsed house at Mohammadi Hills, where 9 persons, including a 2 months infant were killed. While Akbaruddin Owaisi visited Owaisi hospital and interacted with the injured persons.
Heavy showers continue to hit Hyderabad the next day. The Owaisi brothers along with Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao, and Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali inspected flood hit localities of Old City.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy and other officials were also present during the inspections. The leaders discussed steps to be taken towards solving the issue whilst ensuring that steps are being taken to provide relief to the residents of these localities, who were rescued and shifted to temporary camps at community halls, and other institutional premises.
As few gates of the Himayat Sagar reservoir were opened following heavy inflow, Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala accompanied by DRF team, GHMC, HMWS&SB, TSSPDCL and police officials supervised evacuation operations in the majorly affected Moosa Nagar, Kamal Nagar, Rasoolpura areas and distributions of food packs to the residents.
AIMIM General Secretary and Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri inspected submerged areas and the nalas and directed GHMC officials to take up desilting works. .
Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan also took necessary steps to solve the problems being faced by the people due to waterlogging in various areas of the Constituency. He also ensured distributions of food packs to the residents in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Moazam Khan, along with Bandlaguda MRO, GHMC and DRF teams reviewed the rescue and relief works of Al-Jubail Colony, Falaknuma which has been severely affected and submerged with floods.
The residents Al-Jubail Colony and surrounding localities were evacuated to safer places and provided with necessary materials.
Nampally MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj along with GHMC officials conducted inspections of most affected localities such as Osman Peti, First Lancer, Dargah Hazrat Syed Ahmed Baad-e-Paa RA and surrounding areas.
Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin along with Hyderabad Collector Swetha Mohanty visited and inspected Balreddy Nagar, Shahtam Talab, Nadeem Colony and other flood hit areas across Karwan Constituency.
The videos of rescue and relief work by the AIMIM Team were shared widely on the internet and their work is highly appreciated.
AIMIM is known to stand by their people’s side in times of crisis. During the coronavirus lockdown, the party was at the forefront to distribute ration kits to feed the poor not only in Telangana but also in parts of Maharashtra.
The party also driven migrants to their homes since they did not have enough money to hire private vehicles.
