2 killed, 5 injured as house collapses due to heavy rain

Hyderabad, Oct 11: As heavy rains lashed the city, a double-storey house in Hussaini Alam area of Old City on Sunday collapsed leading to the death of two persons, while five others of the same family were critically injured.
Upon receiving the information, GHMC Disaster Response Force and Fire officials rushed to the spot and took-up the rescue operation.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan accompanied by Pathergatti Corporator Syed Sohail Quadri also reached the spot and actively participated in the rescue op.
All the seven persons were rushed to Princess Esra Hospital, where two of them succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, while other two are said to be critical.
The deceased were identified as Naimesh Begum (18) and Farah Begum (22).
Interacting with the media, MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan assured that the AIMIM party will extend its full support to the family and bear their treatment costs. He hoped for quick recovery of the injured persons.
It may be mentioned that during heavy rains this year several houses collapsed in the Old City and other areas of the city, however, there were no loss of lives in the previous incidents.
