Jamaat-e-Islami Hind held massive protest opposing CAA, NRC

Hyderabad, Dec 15: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Telangana on Sunday organized a massive all-party protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park here in Hyderabad.

Nearly thousands of protesters from the city joined the Dharna. The massive gathering was also attended by political leaders, religious scholars, social activists, intellectuals, students and leaders of various organizations.

During the protest, JIH President Moulana Hamid Mohammed Khan demanded that the CAA be withdrawn from the constitution and urged the central government to drop the idea of implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the nation.

Speaking to The Freedom Press, a protester said “Do not divide India & Indians. Both the CAA & NRC is anit-national and anti-secular.”

“We strongly oppose and boycott CAA and NRC” he added.

“The bill is against the constitution of India. It is anti-constitutional and anti-secular. We do not accept such bill which is a conspiracy against Muslims” said another protester.

He further added, “It is clear religious discrimination. Save India, Withdraw CAA.”

Earlier in the day, a special prayer, Qunoot-e-Naazilah were performed Moulana Mohammed Hussamuddin (Jaffer Pasha) attended by hundreds of Muslims at the Jama Masjid, Darulshifa in the old city for those facing hardship and to tide over their troubles.
