Hyderabad, Nov 21: A day after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has approved a research study on the “status of radicalization in India” that study will attempt to legally define ‘radicalization’ and suggest amendments to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday calling UAPA as a draconian law, stated that it’s only used to imprison innocent Muslims, Dalits, and dissenters.
Asad Owaisi, taking it to Twitter, said that considering the ruling-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister garlanded lynchers and that its terrorism-accused MP expressed her devotion to Gandhi’s killer, “it is hard to believe that this is going to be a genuine ‘religion-neutral’ exercise.”
He also said that for decades ‘ radicalization’ has been used to torture and stigmatize Muslim and Dalit youth across the country.
Earlier in the day, Owaisi revamped his argument for having more Muslims participate in politics, saying that Muslim politicking is an ‘act of defiance’ against Hindutva and the Sangh.
He claimed that Hindutva is built on the lie that only one community should have all political power and that Muslims should have no right to participate in politics.
Owaisi, in his tweet, said, “Our very presence in Parliament and Assemblies is an act of defiance against Hindutva Sangh would celebrate if we simply ceased to exist one day.”
