Flood affected families receive Rs. 10,000 aid in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 20: Telangana Ministers KT Rama Rao, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, and Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday distributed cheques of Rs. 10,000 as immediate assistance to each household affected by the floods and assured all help to people living in the low-lying areas in Hyderabad who were facing a lot of problems due to heavy rains and flash floods.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav, joined by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin distributed twenty-five cheques among the flood victims in the most severely affected Nadeem Colony of Karwan constituency.

It was informed that further assistance cheques will also be distributed to the affected families. 

Meanwhile, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, accompanied by AIMIM Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala distributed the cheques among the flood victims under Malakpet constituency. He said that we all share the grief of the flood victims and stand by them and added that the intermittent rains in Telangana are hurting people living in low-lying areas.

Saying that people should have faith in the government and work patiently, the Home Minister asserted that the Telangana government had also released Rs 550 crore to the Municipal Administration Department to help the poor and assist them in restoring their lives.

He added that all the houses which were totally damaged in the rains and floods would be given an assistance of Rs 1 lakh each, and those partially damaged would be given Rs 50,000 each.

He recalled that immediately after floods hit the city taking the lives of a few, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced Rs 5 lakh compensation each to the families of the deceased; which were immediately distributed among the families within two days.

He also said that the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to repair and restore all the roads and other infrastructure facilities on a war footing and ensure that life comes back to normalcy at the earliest.

He further said that the government is ready to extend help to any number of the poor even if their number is in lakhs. Hence, the details of the affected families should be brought to the notice of the officials concerned to get help.
