Hyderabad, Oct 17: The Telangana Government on Saturday distributed ex-gratia cheques of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of persons who died in rain-related incidents.
Ministers Mohammed Mahmood Ali, KT Rama Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and MLAs handed-over the cheques in various areas of the city.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali handed over the cheques to the kin of persons who died in rain-related incidents under Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura and Charminar areas of the city.
The Minister along-with MP Asaduddin Owaisi were also accompanied by Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan in their respective constituencies.Municipal Minister KT Rama and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy along-with MP Asad Owaisi handed over ex-gratia cheques and consoled the bereaved families who lost their family members in the recent floods in Alinagar and Gaganpahad areas of Rajendra Nagar in Hyderabad.
They were also accompanied by Dr Ranjith Reddy, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and MLA Prakash Goud.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said that the Telangana government is with the people in all circumstances. He assured that the Telangana government would provide double bedroom houses to those whose houses had collapsed during the deluge and the government will undertake repairs to partially damaged houses free of cost.
Earlier, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also instructed officials to provide relief to people affected by rains and floods on a war-footing, and asked them to distribute rice, pulses and other essential items besides three blankets to every household on behalf of the State government.
The Chief Minister had also released Rs 5 crore to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to speed up relief operations.
