KTR launches 10 ‘Advanced Life Support’ ambulance

FREEDOM PRESS BUREAU
Hyderabad, Oct 17: Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Saturday inaugurated a Trauma Care Centre and flagged off ten Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances in Shamshabad with an aim to bring emergency medical services to Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR).

According to the data with the traffic police, about 49 accidents occurred on the ORR, claiming over 20 lives, in just six months this year. To reduce such fatalities and enhance early response mechanisms, authorities are setting up trauma care centres on the road.

These ambulances are equipped with airway support equipment, cardiac life support, cardiac monitors and a glucose-testing device. Each ambulance will have two trained paramedical staff to administer advanced medications.

The trauma care facilities will be set up at important intersection points out of the 19 interchange stations from Gachibowli to Shamshabad and Patancheru to Pedda Amberpet, said a health department official adding that the ambulance services and trauma care centres are the need of the hour considering the number of accidents that take place on ORR almost every day.

The ALS ambulances have facilities such as stretchers, monitor with defibrillator for monitoring heart, blood pressure, and for giving shock during cardiac arrest, a mobile suction machine, syringe pump, glucometer, fracture splints, bandages and cervical collar for neck injuries.
