Constable nab thief after 20 kms long chase in Nizamabad

Nizamabad, Oct 11: Showing up the heroic act, Nizamabad Police Constable Mohammed Afsar, after a 20 kilometer-long on-foot chase, nabbed a member of a bike theft gang involved in several theft and robbery crimes in and across the district.

Nizamabad District Police seized 16.2 ounces (07) of gold chains, four vehicles used to snatch it and five mobile phones. The arrested accused has been sent to judicial remand.

The police were in search of the gang since the last few weeks with an increase in theft incidents. It was on Sunday, when Constable Mohammed Afsar identified two thieves on bike, he chased them on bike, but had to continue the chase on-foot when the two thieves entered the galleys of the Navipet Mandal. The constable managed to nab one of them as the other one successfully escaped.

The constable, Nizamabad ACP Srinivas Kumar, CI Satyanarayana and SIs Santosh, Laxmaiah were appreciated by the Nizamabad Police Commissionerate.
