GHMC Polls: Usage of advanced technology will enhance efficiency, transparency: SEC

Hyderabad, Sep 29: Telangana State Election Commissioner (SEC) Commissioner Parthasarathy on Tuesday said that the usage of advanced technology in the next elections will enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability.

Speaking at the concluding day of training programme for GHMC Officials on Te-Poll software, Parthasarathy said  the usage of maximum technology would help all the stakeholders to conduct elections smoothly in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic, an official release here said.

With the advent of technology voters can download voter slip, constituency and Polling station wise voter list, to know polling station etc., online within no time, he added.

The SEC said that maximum usage of technology will ease the process of polling from nomination to declaration of poll results. Te ?poll software will allow contesting candidates and party candidates to view all the details online.

It will also reduce manpower working hours as well as ensure accuracy, he said.

Parthasarathy said that the ” Face Recognition” software is going to be piloted in about 150 polling stations– at least one polling station from each ward in the ensuing elections. He said it is one of the advanced innovations to identify voters with the available data.

He also informed that in the earlier elections this technology was piloted in ten polling stations to access accuracy.

The SEC informed that the Election Commission is planning to pilot an E-Voting process for senior citizens, disabled persons, polling personnel etc. He said the SEC in coordination with IT&C department is trying out the possibilities of going for E-voting in the forthcoming elections.

He also said E- voting will stand as a role model innovation for the entire country.

Parthasarathy said that the training program is aimed at training GHMC officials on election process management, polling personnel randomization system, counting personnel randomization system and  election expenditure module.

The officials from six zones were given extensive training on Te-Poll software and were also provided Hands-on-Training, he said.

The training on Te-Poll software, modules of SEC and other related apps to GHMC officials was held from September 23 to 29 Zone wise for the smooth conduct of ensuing elections.
