HAL, BDL & MIDHANI organises Roadshow for Defexpo 2020

Hyderabad, Nov 13: A Roadshow in connection with Defexpo – 2020 was jointly organized today by HAL, Avionics Division, BDL and MIDHANI at Hyderabad.

The main objective of the Roadshow was to enhance awareness among Hyderabad based Vendors of the three organizations about the business opportunities, which DEFEXPO – 2020, has to offer and to encourage their participation at the exhibition.

Defexpo – 2020, the 11th edition of the biennial mega defence exhibition, being organized by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, will be held from05 to 08 Feb 2020 at Lucknow.

This edition of Defexpo is focusing on the theme,‘Digital Transformation of Defence’ andis expected to bring the leading technologies in the defence sector under one roof and provide amyriad of opportunities for government,private manufacturer and start-ups.

The roadshow began with a welcome address by Rajeev Kumar, GM (Avionics Division), HAL, Hyderabad. A presentation on Defexpo-2020 was made by HAL.

Joint Secretary (Aero), Ministry of Defence ChandrakerBharti, IAS was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Vendors from over 180 firms based in Hyderabad and Secunderabad attended the Roadshow.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandraker Bharti, JS (Aero) invited participation of vendors at the Defexpo and stated that Defexpo – 2020 provides a very good business opportunity for vendors to showcase their products and exchange of ideas.

CMDE Siddharth Mishra (Retd), CMD, BDL in his addressstated, itis a matter of pride for BDL  that the Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, Underwater Weapons and Surface-to-Air Missile like Akash are being produced with maximum indigenous content and supplied to the Armed Forces with large scale participation from Indian private partners. BDL, over the years, has been progressively developing several vendors for each of its programmes and these vendors have become an integral part of Company’s supply chain.

MS Velpari, Director (Operation), HAL in his address emphasized the importance of indigenization of products. Elaborating the benefits of participation in Defexpo, he statedthat it would boost the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government.

Sajal Prakash, CEO (Accessories Complex), HAL stated that Defexpo is a great opportunity to forge relationship with other manufacturers and know the technological advancements taking place in the industry.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Director (Production & Marketing), MIDHANI stated that participation in Defexpo will give a boost to export of Defence products of the country.

Dr S. Malla Reddy, Independent Director, HAL, Praveen P A, Director (Aerospace), Telangana State and T Muralidharan,Chairman FICCI, TS were also present on the occasion.

Later, an interactive session was held with the vendors. N.Ganesh, GM (SLRDC), HAL delivered the vote of thanks.
