Hyderabad, April 17: Kaleshwaram Project on completion irrigation will irrigate 73 lakh acres in the State, including irrigation and drinking water in 15 districts and also Hyderabad besides setting a world record by completing related works in a short time, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said today.
Stating that Kaleshwaram was a boon for Telangana State, Harish Rao slammed the Congress party for moving courts against the projects, which are being completed on a war-footing. Though completion of a project would take at least 10 years or a maximum of 20 years, the TRS Government was able to complete the projects in a short period of four years to supply irrigation waters to farming, he said.
The minister was addressing a meeting of students wing of TRS at Telangana Bhavan before embarking on a visit to the prestigious project. Speedy completion of the projects to the determination of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who himself is a farmer he said. People of Telangana are lucky to have KCR as the chief minister else the projects will not have been completed he said.
Harish praised that the students have played a key role in statehood movement and will be taking part in the reconstruction of the state into golden Telangana. The Centre and several others states are praising the speedy works of the Kaleshwaram project he said. Even Central Water Commission, an apex body at the national level has appreciated KCR and Telangana government for expeditious works at Kaleshwaram which is to set a world record.
Listing out the flagship programs and welfare schemes, Harish Rao said that Telangana is doing its best for the cause of the people. He explained about Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak, sheep scheme, fish production, double bedroom houses and pension. Harish also said that Rythu Bandhu scheme will be benefitting the farmers to get rid of their loan related problems for sowing crops and cultivating harvest. Lakes revival program has been a success as the migrants of Palamur district are beating a retreat to eke out their livelihood in their own villages he claimed.
